Historic Monmouth

Monmouth is a historic county town in Wales just 2 miles from the English border. It has a history going back to the Bronze Age with the Romans building a settlement there. Later in the 14th century, King Henry V was born there. There is a statue to commemorate him in front of Shire Hall.

Puzzlewood

Puzzlewood near Coleford, may look familiar to you. That's because so many films and TV series have been filmed here including Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Huntsman and the Secret Garden. Dr Who is also a regular visitor! 

If you enjoy walking, amazing scenery or discovering nature, you’ll love Puzzlewood. Experience twisted trees in an otherworldly woodland, it’s a wood like no other, and they say its magic will cast a spell to entice you back time and time again.

Goodrich Castle

Close by, standing in open countryside above the River Wye, Goodrich Castle is one of the finest and best preserved of all English medieval castles.  There are spectacular views of the area from the battlements and a delightful tearoom. Nearby is a local pub The Cross Keys which is a nice way to end the day with home cooked food and it is also within walking distance of the Campsite. 

With the growth of tourism, the castle has become a must-see popular visitor destination.

Go Ape

Sandwiched between the River Severn and the River Wye you’ll find Beechenhurst, Forest of Dean This peaceful location is home to our Forest of Dean Treetop Adventure course so bring the whole family for some giggles and fun on our high ropes course. With great views and lots of other opportunities to keep you busy this location is ideal for making special memories with younger age groups.

Symonds Yat

Stunning Symonds Yat is only 2 miles from our campsite. It lies at the edge of the Forest of Dean and at the mouth of an impressive gorge

A haven for canoeing, kayaking, and wildlife watching, the area offers something for all. There are several places to hire canoes to explore the river Wye  and it's stunning surroundings including Wyedean Canoe Hire & Adventure - click here to find out more. 

Clearwell Caves

An extensive natural cave system, set in a beautiful valley. Walk through the show-caves and mine workings with exciting displays throughout.  Iron ore was mined here for over 2,000 years. They often have quizzes and hunts for children.
